Obituary for Roberta "Bobbi" Miller

Roberta "Bobbi" Miller
Roberta Miller (Bangel), age 81, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018. Born in Kearny, New Jersey in 1937. Bobbi, as she was fondly known, is pre-deceased by her mother, Pauline Bangel; her father, August Bangel; sister, Joan Bangel Flagg. Bobbi is survived by her four children, Karyn Spence (Dave), Donna Sittmann (Gerry), Stephen Simmons (Karen), and Bill Miller (Silke), and also by her nine grandchildren, Brooke (Craig), Blair (Scott), Kurt, Kyle, Kelsey, Trevor, DJ, Haley and Ryan.

Bobbi had a successful career in the human resources department at Mercedes Benz for over 25 years. Her dedication, drive, and work ethic were paramount to her success. She taught her children the importance of hard work and independence, and she truly embodied these qualities on a daily basis.

Bobbi, or “Gram” as her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as, was the “fun and crazy grandma”. She was creative and carefree and showed her grandchildren a zest for life while encouraging them to live outside the box. Gram felt rules were made to broken, and she often encouraged twizzlers and ice cream for breakfast, and thought swimming (clothed or not) was always a good idea. At any age, Gram liked to have fun, frequently enjoying roller coasters, go-karts, bowling, tubing, jetskiing and waterskiing. Gram loved the beach, it was her happy place, and she especially enjoyed feeding the seagulls despite the signs (and the people) telling her not to; she was always a rebel. She loved a great funnel cake on the boardwalk, and would absolutely never turn down any dessert, many times skipping her entree to do so. Bobbi had a love for travel, especially Europe, and enjoyed her many surprise trips with her daughters and daughter-in-law. She enjoyed broadway musicals, playing cards with her kids, shopping trips to “Cheap Charlies” and a good meal at Charlie Browns. She also had a deep love for her cats, Murray and Cybil.

Bobbi was a very spirited woman who provided love and inspiration to those around her. She will truly be remembered as a larger than life matriarch who fiercely loved her family - she will be missed in life, but never ever forgotten in our hearts.
